Case 1: Implant Restorations

Implant restorations are the the " state of the art " for replacing missing teeth. While they are not best suited to every situation they very often offer the most predictable, long term option for replacing everything from individual teeth to the entire dentition. Implants can be used to hold in individual crowns, bridges or removable dentures. These restorations require less maintenance and are much less likely to fail than bridges that are supported by natural teeth. A close working relationship is necessary between the implant surgeon and the dentist making the restorations for the best possible results and careful planning is required. This case illustrates implant restorations that replace only three teeth. The remainder of this gentleman's teeth were either severely worn, decayed or had old, broken down crowns and bridges in need of replacement.

Reason for treatment: This patient lost three teeth because one of them fractured and others were periodontally compromised. He was also seeking some cosmetic changes and wanted to stop the downward spiral of his oral health.
